In this lesson, it will continue our discussion towards lesson objectives #1 and #2:
As you read more information on your project, please remember the vocabulary words we defined as a class:
1. Culture
2. Economy

7. Itinerary
Look them up in your classroom dictionary or online on Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary if you require review.
We discussed in class the two main resources you will utilize in CultureGrams and CIA World Factbook. Remember! CultureGrams is a subscription site, so you will have to use the login and password (we wrote down in our notebooks in class) to access it if you are working on this project at home! Here is a good tutorial on CultureGrams!
You were given jobs in your group. Below are the job titles and the goals within:
Chief Logistical Officer:
Goal: To create the budget and all monetary needs the group may have for a journey to your European country!
Task: The Logistics Officer's job is to:
1. Note Cards and Bibliography
2. Determine the airfare for 4 roundtrip tickets - Omaha, NE(USA) and [Capital City, Country] 3. Currency Exchange - "What is the US dollar worth in [Country]?
4. Compare the economies (natural resources, industries, imports, and exports) of your chosen European Country and the United States.
*Chief Academic Officer (Team Leader):
Goal: To organize the itinerary or plan for traveling to your country and building a list of travel
advice for all who would wish to travel to your chosen country.
1. Note Cards and Bibliography
2. Research the 5 best sites to visit in [Country] - to create a "5-day itinerary"
3. Time Zone
4. Describe two significant historical events in your Country's past. Challenge: Are there any
historical events that are similar to events that occurred in the United States? Compare the two
if there are!
*Chief Researcher:
Goal: To build a basic database of basic information about the country as a whole.
1. Note Cards and Bibliography
2. Compile and compare the following categories with those of the United States: population, area (square miles), life expectancy, division of land (states, provinces, etc.), main language, type of government, climate, and flag
3. Choose two geographic features of your chosen Country and compare them to the United
States
4. Create/locate a map of [Country]

Goal: To compare the cultures of the European Country chosen and the United States
1. Note Cards and Bibliography
2. Research to choose 5 recipes for foods you would find in your European country and
compare to the food you'd find in the United States.
3. Compare the lifestyles of your Country with those of the United States
4. Compare the educational system of your Country with that of the United States.
- I can identify basic information, cultural information, economic information, and governmental information about a European country and compare it to the United States.
- I can identify the national landmarks, major cities, and significant geographic locations within my assigned European Country.
